Private dog training and behavior modification
What areas do you travel to?
I can work with you and your dog in Rhode Island and in southeastern Massachusetts. I will
travel further if requested, but unfortunately would need to charge an extra fee for the expense
and time dependent on the distance.

How much does training cost?
The fee depends on what particular service you decide is right for you and your dog. Some
specific prices can be found on my
Training page. Think of the money that you pay for dog
training help as an investment; because it is truly one of the best investments you can make for
yourself and your dog!

Can the kids (or roommates, family, dog sitter, etc.) be involved?
Yes! I always like to involve every member of the dog's household and anyone who spends time
with the dog, if possible, so that everyone can be on the same page and help the dog to be
successful. Kids love to learn how to work with their dogs! If you have very small children who
might be a bit of a distraction to
you, then you might want to make other arrangements for
them during session time.

How old does my puppy have to be?
A puppy can begin learning good manners and house rules as soon as you bring him or her
home. One of the benefits of in-home training is that you don't need to wait until vaccinations
are completed before getting started! Many puppies already have bad habits by their first day of
puppy class which could have been prevented with a little early help.

Is my dog too old?
If your older dog is in relatively good health, then he's not too old! Dogs of all ages love learning
extra time and effort, since they've spent so much time having that habit, but it's certainly not
impossible and definitely worth the energy if it will make life together better!

What if my dog growls and snaps?
I'm not afraid of being bitten, and don't mind working with difficult dogs. Confidence is essential
and very helpful to "disarm" a dog and help them resolve issues. But safety is a priority, so I
may ask you to help by having your dog leashed, or something of that nature (no small children
around for these cases please). This is my line of work and completely understand the inherent
risk as well as how to minimize it, so I won't be suing you if I allow myself to be bitten.

What qualifies you to work with my baby?
I've spent a large part of my life preparing to be your dog's trainer! I studied dogs and behavior
as an animal science major, successfully completing classes like breeds and handling, obedience,
anatomy, and others. I have been certified by both PETsMART's accreditation program and
ACOAM's animal control officer certification program. I am also an approved AKC Canine Good
Citizen evaluator. Over the years I've studied very different methods of training and have chosen
and developed my techniques carefully. I have taught hundreds and hundreds of hours of
classes and private lessons. Check out my
About Me page to read about how I got started in the
first place!
